Adele's 4th

We had a lovely time celebrating Adele's birthday. We kicked it off with my side of the family's party a few days earlier; among all the lovely gifts, my parents gave her her very own set of the Little House books, which she's trying to show here:

We had a little girls' party for her:

She needed all the help she could get with the candles! Brooklyn's face in the background cracks me up - she's taking such a deep breath to blow!

Our gift to her: her first real bike! She didn't love it right off...she's kind of nervous about the tippy feeling of training wheels, apparently. But I think it will get a lot of use this summer. And she voluntarily bequeathed her tricycle to Jack already, so that's a good sign.

We had a lovely day with her. There was plenty of leftover cake, little gifts sprinkled throughout the day, phone calls from people she loves, videos of when she was a baby, and a trip to Meijer to pick out her very own Barbie horse with her own cash (that's what she said when she opened her card: "my own cash!") from grandparents. How could a day be better when you are 4???

It's so fun to see them loving the books we used to, isn't it?? :) Grace's class is finishing up LH in the Big Woods and we're starting in with the Ramona books. I love watching her learn to read! :)

Happy Birthday to Adele! :)
